Professional Background
Throughout my cybersecurity career I've covered a broad range of expertise, from engineering cutting-edge proprietary tools, to implementing industry and governance processes across the Department of Defense. I've dedicated over a decade of my life to helping the warfighter accomplish the mission while helping to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability. As an experienced Federal Consultant, I learned quickly how challenging working within the Navy environment can be, and the overall importance of understanding the “big picture”. My experience as an engineer enabled me to develop and hone unique technical abilities, including network protection, cloud security, data loss prevention, endpoint protection, and much more. In addition, as a member of a Navy regulatory body I learned how to navigate the program acquisition process from the inside out, managing risks, and cultivating partnerships. The culmination of these unique experiences has empowered me to be a unique asset to public sector sales organizations looking to gain customer insight, engineering teams looking to tackle complex technical objectives, and business executives needing a trusted advisor for a strategic advantage.

PARTNERSHIP

Building and maintaining strategic relationships has been a major focus throughout my career. The ability to bridge gaps across multiple agencies, commands, and stakeholders has enabled me to become a trusted advisor. We all know there's no shortage of brain power across the public and private sector, but its understanding how to employ that collective insight that is key to sustained success. My understanding of how to facilitate dialogue across functional groups promotes a spirit of partnership and collaboration between stakeholders.
Program Expertise

Engineering Lead

As a Principal Engineer for Broadcom I provided program guidance and shared technical expertise with fellow engineers and led program efforts. Engineering and implementing an array of proprietary tools has given me a broad range of capabilities and technical cybersecurity skills.

Risk Management Framework (RMF) Lead

As a lead engineer, I navigated the transition of DIACAP to RMF, guiding multiple programs for Symantec/Broadcom from inception to completion. Working with government officials and partners we achieved multiple ATO's for several programs operating across the NMCI network.

Sales Support

As a resident consultant on the NMCI contract, I provided key insight to Symantec sales executives regarding potential areas for growth, and helped backline developers meet the needs of the customer.

Stakeholder Engagement

From training customer engineers on production features to engaging government executives in support of key business objectives, I worked closely with stakeholders to provide comprehensive cybersecurity consulting services.

Operations support

In a dynamic enterprise environment, its important to be flexible. The NMCI network is the largest intranet in the world, and as a cybersecurity consultant I had to be ready to provide expertise to LIVE network operations as needed. Being able to adapt and wear multiple hats was part of the job!

INNOVATION

Established processes and standards are everywhere in cybersecurity, but understanding how and where to identify ways to innovate can be the difference between success and failure. I pride myself on not just checking a box, but also being able to contribute forward thinking perspectives, and sharing valuable insight to help secure the world of tomorrow, as much as today.

Program Expertise

Cybersecurity Figure of Merit (CFOM)

As a leading cybersecurity analyst for the Cybersecurity Tech Authority of NAVWAR 5.0, I developed, and socialized the functional implementation of CFOM, a program acquisition readiness tool designed to measure the cyber hygiene of programs and its level of rigor.

Compile to Combat in 24hrs (C2C24)

I authored technical documentation and whitepapers in support of the Rapid Assess and Incorporate for Software Engineering in a Day (RAISED) component of C2C24. Helping the Navy define the scope of containerized applications helped to optimize, modernize, and secure CANES.

Cybersecurity Safety (CYBERSAFE)

As a member of the RACE team, I provided support categorizing (RMF STEP 2) systems for the CSTA. Helping programs determine their risk and overall mission criticality played a vital role establishing sound security controls.

Continuous Monitoring (CONMON)

As a lead cybersecurity support for the Chief Engineer of NAVWAR, I participated in the Continuous Monitoring working group and authored early draft whitepapers of the Continuous Monitoring process for the CSTA. I helped align the process with baseline controls and synchronized T&E.

SABER

I presently contribute to the overall effort of implementing the Situational Awareness Boundary Enforcement and Response program across C4I.

EXCELLENCE

One of my earliest roles was providing technical support for the County of San Diego. I worked directly for the highly esteemed and elected Board of Supervisors, as a personal liaison for all things technology related. This is where I established my reputation for providing excellent customer service. Going the extra mile became my modus operandi.
PHILOMATH

I'm grateful for opportunities to learn from the best, and I've had the privilege of serving under great leadership. Throughout my career I've been surrounded by unique individuals who have imparted wisdom and knowledge, and have prepared me to be my absolute best. Their example has honed my own ability to lead and to mentor the next generation.
